EXCLUSIVE! Brec Bassinger Talks New Movie, Halloween & More!

Brec Bassinger told us all about her new movie!

In excitement for her new role as Vi, YSBnow sat down with Brec to talk all things Halloween and fall. Check it out!

YSBnow: We all LOVE Halloween! Are you big on the holiday? Any fun Halloween traditions?

Brec: I LOVE HALLOWEEN! One tradition I started two years ago is pumpkin carving. I love getting a group of friends together to carve pumpkins and watch scary movies. I also think you are never too old to go trick-or-treating, so I will be doing that again this year!

YSBnow: What’s your favorite costume you’ve ever worn?

Brec: My favorite costume ever is when I dressed up as a loofah! (Like you use in the bath or shower lol). I handmade the costume and I didn’t see any other loofahs that night, so that made me happy too!

YSBnow: Do you plan on dressing up this year?

Brec: Yes! This year I am dressing up as the Joker because I really wanted to take a typical male character and change it to the feminine version. I have found most of the pieces of my costume, but still have to dye the shorts I bought green. I love handmade costumes!

YSBnow: So cool! We can’t wait to see it. Moving on, for viewers who might not know too much about your new movie, Liar, Liar, Vampire, can you give them a brief explanation of your role & tell them 3 reasons why they should tune in!

Brec: Liar, Liar, Vampire is about a boy named Davis. He is a little awkward and always had trouble making friends. When he moves to a new school the most popular girl in school mistakes him for a vampire and naturally he becomes mega- popular! I play Davis’s neighbor Vi, who is kind of a vampire expert and helps him pull off his act. People should watch Liar, Liar, Vampire because it has a great message behind it! Throughout the story you see that you shouldn’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Another cool thing about the movie is there are a few scenes that may remind you of another popular vampire movie, but with a fun twist.

YSBnow: What was your favorite part about being in Liar, Liar, Vampire? How was filming a movie different from filming your TV show, Bella and the Bulldogs?

Brec: My favorite part about filming Liar, Liar, Vampire was getting to film on-location. Each day we went to a new part of Canada, and I loved getting to sight see while working! That’s probably the biggest difference between Liar, Liar, Vampire and Bella and the Bulldogs. We’ve only filmed on-location once on Bella and the Bulldogs.

YSBnow: You know we always gotta ask… what happened behind the scenes? Any interesting or funny stories you can share?

Brec: Something really cool about Liar, Liar, Vampire is every character had their own color that is incorporated in each of their outfits. Vi’s (my character) color is purple, Caitlin’s color is pink, for example, and so on. We also made a really fun Liar, Liar, Vampire “Bad Blood” video. You can watch it HERE!

YSBnow: Your wardrobe looked pretty awesome and we know you’re a fashionista yourself (your Insta is amazing, btw!). Since we’re now into fall, what are some trends you’re excited to rock?

Brec: I am super excited to wear the preppy layered look! I have always loved dressing preppy with rocker influences, but with fall coming I can add even more layers to that! Also, I think it’s so cute when girls wear bowties. I love all the retro looks that are trending right now!

YSBnow: Yes, so cute! What are some of your favorite things about fall, in general?

Brec: I love football games! I’m traveling back to Texas soon to go to my high school’s football game, and I can’t wait for the Friday night lights!

YSBnow: With Halloween right around the corner, do you get spooked out easily? Are you superstitious at all?

Brec: I am beyond superstitious! I’ve had so many weird things happen to me, so I feel like I have to believe in weird supernatural stuff! Also, I love getting scared!

YSBnow: There have been a lot of vampire characters in tv & film (Buffy, Edward Cullen, etc.). Do you have a particular favorite vampire?

Brec: I loved Edward Cullen. I was the biggest Twilight fan, so it’s only natural that I had a crush on Edward.

YSBnow: Let’s say viewers at home are going to throw a viewing party. What is Brec’s guide to a Liar, Liar, Vampire party?

For a Liar, Liar, Vampire party, you need pizza — extra garlic! I think it should be a costume party as well because at the end of the movie there is a big Halloween bash that everyone dresses up at!

YSBnow: SO fun! Lastly, let’s play a game of Marry, Date, Dump: Werewolves, Vampires, Zombies. Go!

Brec: Date vampires, Dump zombies, Marry werewolves!

Desiree
