SHERO ALERT: Monica Abbott Signs $1 Million Contract

Monica is changing the future of women’s sports one pitch at a time!

Monica Abbott, otherwise known as “The Million Dollar Arm” is breaking barriers for female athletes everywhere. After signing a six-year $1 million contract with National Pro Fastpitch’s newest expansion team, the Scrap Yard Dawgs, Monica captured the attention of the athletic world. She became the first ever female athlete to sign a one-million-dollar contract. How major is that?!

So MAJOR that the strikeout queen was at first in quite a bit of a shock over the deal. “My initial reaction was just like WOAH, there is no way that she is serious, there is no way,” Monica said. “This isn’t about me anymore this is about the future of women’s sports,” she said in the “Million Dollar Arm” trailer which premiers exclusively on FloSoftball on September 21!

Now let’s rewind all the way back to November 19, 1979. Why is this date so important?! Because 36 years ago in 1979, Nolan Ryan became the first MLB pitcher to sign a million-dollar contract. After 36 years of hard work, dedication, and passion the future of female athletes is finally changing and we couldn’t be happier! We are so excited to continue to watch Monica’s athletic journey and are thrilled to be a part of this #GirlPower evolution that is about to take over the athletic world!
