You don’t have to be rich or famous to make a difference
We all know the biggest way to stop the spread of Coronavirus is by staying home. But with everyone quarantined and not many answers available, it’s really easy (and normal) to feel scared and powerless right now. However, if you have the time, you can totally make a difference in your community, and the world. Here are 4 ways you can give back, whether it’s by bringing a smile to someone’s face, donating a meal, or maybe even saving a life.
1. Visit FreeRice.com or download their free mobile app.
It’s an educational multiple choice game that helps families in need. For every correct answer, 10 grains of rice are donated via the United Nations’ World Food Programme.
2. Contact a nursing home or senior assisted living home in your area and see if they’re currently accepting mail. They can’t have visitors right now, so can you imagine how much it’d lift their spirits to receive a letter from a new friend?
3. You have to be 16 or older for this one, but the American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage due to large gatherings (i.e. public blood drives) being banned.
Visit RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the free Red Cross Blood Donor App to complete a pre-screening and schedule a time to donate blood. You might even save a life!
4. First responders, firefighters, and police officers are *really* risking their lives right now as they continue to keep us safe during this time.
Ask a parent first, but a great way to show your support would be sending pizza or coffee to their station, or even writing some thank you cards.
Stay strong and stay safe. We’re all in this together, #YSBnowFam.
