Alessia Cara And The Ad Council Are Working Together To End Cyber Bullying

She’s part of their “I Am A Witness” campaign!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Alessia Cara is getting involved!

The Ad Council, a non-profit organization that creates and shares public service announcements, recently launched the I Am A Witness campaign. The initiative aims to put an end to bullying by “activating the ‘silent majority’ of kids who witness it each day, transforming them from passive bystanders into an active collective that speak up against bullying.”

Alessia’s single “Scars To Your Beautiful” (an incredible song about self-love and acceptance that has touched the hearts of listeners all over the world) has become an anthem for the cause.

As well, Ms. Cara is hosting the #IAmAWitness challenge, asks music.ly users to create 15 second music videos to “Scars To Your Beautiful” in which they demonstrate what should be done when someone witnesses bullying in action. Celebs like Kristen Hancher, JoJo Siwa and Johnny Orlando already plan to join in and show their support!

“In the digital reality that teens of today live in, online bullying has become a serious epidemic with potentially devastating consequences,” said President & CEO of the Ad Council Lisa Sherman. “It has never been more important for anyone with a voice, anyone with an audience, and anyone who can reach teens to take a stand and show them that there is a way out, there is action that they can take, and together we really can put a stop to bullying.”

Each year, more than one in four children experience bullying. It’s a humungous problem that needs to be resolved. We can only make it stop, however, if we work together.

With a simple emoji, you can contribute to I Am A Witness and make a difference too. For more information, visit iwitnessbullying.org
