Ariel Winter Wants Everyone To Feel Confident On The Beach This Summer

“I don’t care if people think I look ridiculous – it’s my beach day!”

Ariel Winter’s recent interview with Refinery29 is all we needed to hear to stay confident this summer. 

Before her breast reduction, Ariel admits she used to have the worst time shopping for a swim suit. “I used to have full-scale meltdowns in bathing suit shops because there was nothing I could find to wear,” she explains. “I always felt like crap about myself. It’s gotten a little better but it’s definitely still hard…But I’ve learned to not care about that as much. I’m comfortable in a bathing suit, scars and all.”

Ariel isn’t new to standing up for herself and being an advocate for body positivity. “I went through a lot of hate online, so I tried to change myself for a really long time, and it really didn’t work, because people just kept hating on me no matter what I did,” the Modern Family star says. “So I decided that instead of pleasing these other people, I’ll just spend that time pleasing myself.” YES! 

And when it comes to how you should dress or look on the beach, Ariel encourages everyone to do what makes them happy! No one makes the rules and you should feel free to show up to the beach rocking whatever look you want! “I’m definitely a makeup at the beach person, and I don’t care if people think I look ridiculous- it’s my beach day!” That idea should apply to pretty much everywhere, the gym, the movies, parties, etc. If you want to rock a full face of makeup or go completely natural, go for it! “Whether I want to go natural or with makeup and in sweatpants, that’s up to me. People are so stressed out about how they’re going to look in their bathing suits that they forget to go to the beach because they want to go to the beach, which defeats the whole purpose,” she explains. “The beach should be a safe space.”
