The “Riverdale” actress opens up about her experiences.
You may know Camila Mendes best as her character Veronica Lodge on The CW’s hit series, “Riverdale.” But off camera, the actress — like her incredible cast of co-stars — is committed to making a difference and bringing attention to important issues. Now, Camila is using her platform to shine some light on eating disorders, something she and her family have gone through first-hand.
Camila recently revealed her own struggle with an eating disorder on her Instagram, where she announced she was partnering with Project HEAL. The organization helps people going through recovery pay for the treatment they need.
“I can say from experience that eating disorders are serious mental illnesses,” Camila wrote in a text post. “Growing up, I watched my big sister suffer from one for many years, and I’ve experienced periods in my life when I’ve suffered symptoms as well. I’m joining Project HEAL to help break the stigma associated with eating disorders.”
You can see Camila’s entire message below.
We are so proud of the actress for bravely opening up about her own story, and helping to spread awareness about this important organization.
