Chloe x Halle Explain Why Their Postponed Their Album

“Music has been used for a long time to bring us joy and healing in difficult times like this.”

“Music has been used for a long time to bring us joy and healing in difficult times like this.”

On June 1st, Chloe X Halle announced that their second album titled Ungodly Hour was being postponed from its’ June 5th release date to June 12th so that they, their fans, and the world could solely focus on the Black Lives Matter movement. The girls posted an IGTV to explain the postponement and to urge fans to get involved by signing petitions, donating, and continuing to dismantle systemic racism both offline and online.

In their IGTV video explaining the album postponement, Chloe stated, “In honor of all of the lives lost in police brutality, we felt like it was right to postpone, and fully shine our attention and our work on them.” Halle adds that “Music has been used for a long time to bring us joy and healing in difficult times like this.” Now that their album is just hours away, we’re eager to hear what the girls have been working on and grateful that there are artists like them for our audience to listen and look up to in this historic and emotional moment.

To celebrate the highly-anticipated album, the Grammy nominated sisters also recorded a cover video that paid tribute to Black female artists who paved the way for them, including TLC, Aaliyah, and Lauryn Hill:

Iconic trio TLC loved it just as much as we did!
