Meet Hudson Stone, the 14-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy of ‘Camp Rock 3’
When Hudson Stone first auditioned for Camp Rock 3, he wasn’t coming in as an aspiring actor, but as a guitar prodigy with some serious street cred. At just 14 years old, Hudson’s already shredded onstage at major music festivals and legendary venues with his band, The Rookie5. Later this summer, the world will meet him as the easygoing Desi in Disney’s Camp Rock 3, but in real life, Hudson is a self-described “Overthinker.”
In fact, that’s the name of his debut single, which just dropped last week. “All my life, I’ve been told that I’m such a deep thinker, which is very true, but it tends to lead to overthinking, which can sometimes get in my way,” he says. “Falling in love, people tend to overthink because they care so deeply about it. When I fell in love, it was the first time I just didn’t think, and my heart took over. So, this song is a reminder to people that love is all about diving in with your whole heart.”
And here’s the thing: When you hear the words “14-year-old” and “debut single,” you naturally expect it to lean more Kidz Bop and less indie rock. But moments into your first stream of “Overthinker,” you’ll hear that Hudson is built different—like, way different. With influences like John Mayer, The Strokes and Leon Bridges churning through his music and lyrics, this soulful singer-songwriter who can’t even drive yet is seriously one to watch. Take a listen!
Now, as you’re counting down the days to Camp Rock 3, take some time to meet one of its brightest stars and become a massive fan—before everyone else does.
Who Is Hudson Stone? Inside the ‘Camp Rock 3’ Star’s Musical Journey
Hudson Stone was born on November 6, 2011, to parents Lindsay Price and Curtis Stone. With an Australian father and a half-Korean mother, his world—and especially his music—have always been shaped by a mix of cultures and influences.
As a little kid growing up in Southern California, Hudson started playing guitar at just five years old. While his classmates were practicing counting to ten, Hudson was already learning his first guitar chords. On his 14th birthday, his dad posted this edit, which shows a pint-sized Hudson discovering his passion for music over the years.
By the time he reached double digits, Hudson was already playing in SoCal-based cover band, The Rookie5, alongside his friends Addie, Rebel and Zooey.
The band hustled hard—practicing at home and gigging at local events before making their way to legendary venues like Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip and major festivals like BeachLife. In May, The Rookie5 took the stage at BottleRock, which was headlined by Lil Wayne, the Foo Fighters, and Lorde. You’ve gotta check out Hudson’s insane guitar solo:
How Did Hudson Stone Land His ‘Camp Rock 3’ Role?
By the time casting breakdowns went out for Camp Rock 3 back in 2025, Hudson was a perfect fit for Desi, the easygoing, guitar guru brother of Sage (Liamani Segura). The highly-anticipated DCOM premieres in August, with the Jonas Brothers reprising their roles as Connect 3 and Demi Lovato returning to executive produce.
But Camp Rock 3 is just the beginning for Hudson. In September, he’ll be hitting the road on the Worlds Collide Concert Tour
alongside his co-stars Liamani and Malachi Barton. Hudson’s also been busy in the studio, working hard on his debut album. “I’ve been playing guitar since I was little and writing songs means so much to me,” he says. “I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
