EXCLUSIVE #MusicMonday: Gunnar Gehl On Touring and New Music
You’re going to love Gunnar. Thank us later.
New artist alert! We love introducing you guys to our favorite new artists and this week we’re excited for you to get to know Gunnar Gehl! You might know him from his opening slot on PRETTYMUCH’s 2018 Fall Tour or from his hit song “Ocean Blue” which has over 400k streams on Spotify alone.
We asked Gunnar some “get to know you” style questions about tour life, when he started playing music, and what 2019 has in store for him. Check it out:
1. For our readers unfamiliar with your music, how would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as pop/pop rock. It’s similar to stuff you would hear on the radio, just very very real.
2. When did you know you wanted to be a musician?
I knew the moment I picked up a guitar that I loved it, but I didn’t think I really had a chance at it until I was about 16.
3. What was opening for PRETTYMUCH like? Can you recall any fun tour memories?
Opening up for the PM boys was probably one of the most fun experiences I have ever been apart of. It was everything I could have asked for. One of the most fun memories I would say was when we were on our way to San Francisco from Seattle we stopped in this small town and played video games at the mall. By the time we were done there were like 20 fans behind us. It was pretty crazy.
4. What was the best part of being on the road?
The best part of being on the road was just the experience and exposure. I got to finally get out and meet fans, and also figure out what songs they really like and what works. It was a perfect opening into my career. I’m very very thankful that I was included.
5. What’s coming up for you in 2019?
2019 is going to be a pretty good year. Can’t spill too much, but something I have always dreamed of is coming true, and it’s going to make everything from here out just that much better. All I can really say about this next year, is that I am going to be working as hard as I possibly can.
