“If you truly believe, your determination can make your dreams come true”
Ever since we heard her debut single, “Boys Like You,” on Radio Disney, we wanted to know more about Rayla. Take a listen below!
In between recording sessions, we had a few minutes to get to know Rayla. Check out our exclusive Q&A below!
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Born and raised in New Jersey!
Q: How did you discover your passion for singing and performing?
A: Growing up there was always music playing in my house – all genres from rock and roll to country to pop. I was surrounded by music all the time. My mom says I was born singing. I used to stand on the dishwasher door and use it as my stage to perform. One of my first performances was when I was seven at a local theater group. I was center stage and sang a Disney song. I was hooked from that point on!
Q: When and how did it go from a hobby into a professional career?
A: I’ve always loved music and grew up writing songs, singing and performing whenever I could. When I decided to be homeschooled for high school, that’s really when things changed. I was able to focus solely on my art and the flexibility with being homeschooled allowed me to be available for so many more opportunities.
Q: What can fans expect from you over the next few months?
A: I’ve been working a lot in the studio so definitely new music on the way! I plan on releasing an EP in the Fall, which I’m really excited about. I’ve also been filming music videos for some of the new material so really excited for those to be released. And I have a few surprises coming as well!
Q: What’s your biggest goal with music?
A: I definitely have a lot of goals, but the dream has always been to make good music that touches people and reaches as many people as possible. I just want to always be creating and sharing my music.
Q: What’s one message you want your fans to know?
A: You have to believe in yourself and your dreams and know there will be ups and downs but if you truly believe, your determination can make those dreams come true.
