Let’s Talk Sports Tuesday: Paige Selenski

The field hockey star is not letting an injury get in her way!

Meet one of the “It Girls” of the field hockey scene… Paige Selenski. She is a 2012 Olympian, member of the U.S. Women’s Field Hockey Team, a Nike Athlete, and was featured in the 2015 ESPN Body Issue. It might be a little hard to believe with all of her accomplishments and experience, but she is only 25-years-old!

The Pennsylvania native capitalizes on her strength, speed and stick skills, making herself a triple-threat in the game. In 2009 Paige decided to take her senior year off at the University of Virginia and move to Coronado, CA. There, she took the leap to the U.S. Women’s National team and furthered her training full time. Her passion and hard work allowed for her to be an integral part of the U.S. team.

Wow! Unbelievable right?! On top of it all, she does not let injuries get in the way of her dreams. Just to name a few of her injuries: she broke her nose right before the Olympic Games in London, she has about 7 scars on her face from getting hit, she has played on a torn labrum for over a year and recently she has been rehabbing a right hamstring tendon.

Paige has spent countless hours of rehabbing and taking care of her body to be in the best possible shape to take her skills to the next level! If that isn’t dedication and passion to her dreams and the game, then I don’t know what is! That kind of hard work and commitment is what we all strive for and with a role model like Paige we are motivated to achieve that level of greatness! Keep it up Paige and good luck!!!
