Peyton List Opens Up About Experiencing Competitiveness with Other Girls

There’s room for everyone to succeed while following their dreams!

Whether it has something to do with your grades in school, your spot on a sports team, or applying to colleges, it’s likely you have experienced some sort of competitiveness in your everyday life. But there are two very different types of competition out there in the universe: the friendly type where everyone tries to be better together, and the ugly kind where people try to tear others down to elevate their own selves.

Unfortunately, Peyton List has seen both kinds play out right before her eyes. In a new interview with Rogue magazine, the Disney Channel actress shared that she has actually experienced this type of competition between girls while she has worked in different parts of the entertainment industry.

“When you’re with people for long spans of time, it becomes more like high school or a normal job where people start to get competitive, especially if one person thrives a little quicker than others,” she said. “It’s really sad when people do get competitive because when you’re working on a TV show or movie together, you’re all working as a team. Some people lose sight of that.”

“It’s just petty things like who stands in the middle or who talks the most in an interview,” she said. “I’m just like, whatever, it doesn’t matter at the end of the day.”

Peyton has found that it is easiest to just shrug off the little things, especially because more girls are getting wise to the fact that lifting others up doesn’t dull any of your own sparkle.

“Mostly though, a lot of females on set have been supportive of one another,” she said. “Especially in 2017, everyone is so much more aware. We try and be a family on set.” That’s for sure a step in a better direction!
