The movie is going to tell the story from the female characters’ perspective!
When you think of your favorite classic cartoons, does “Scooby Doo” come to mind? It totally does for us! Which is why we’re so excited to share that two of our favorite actresses – Sarah Jeffery and Sarah Gilman – are coming together for a clever new re-imagining of the story.
The female characters of “Scooby Doo” are getting their own live-action spinoff movie, and the Sarahs have been cast as Mystery Inc.’s Velma and Daphne. As an added layer of girl power cool, Ashley Tisdale is producing the film. (In case you’re taking note, that means all of these stars have a former Disney Channel connection as they enter this new production.)
So what’s the story going to be about?
“Before their eventual team-up with Scooby and the gang, bright and optimistic Daphne and whip-smart and analytical Velma are both mystery-solving teens who are best friends but have only met online — until now,” reads a film description. “Daphne has just transferred to Velma’s school, Ridge Valley High, a tech-savvy institute with all the latest gadgets provided by the school’s benefactor, tech billionaire Tobias Bloom. And while competition is fierce among the students for a coveted internship at Bloom Innovative, Daphne and Velma dig beyond all the gadgets and tech to investigate what is causing some of the brightest students in school to disappear — only to emerge again in a zombie-fied state.”
Okay, that sounds incredible. And the girls are rightfully excited about sharing their new roles with us!
“ZOINKS ?????? seriously SO stoked to be be portraying Daphne Blake in this fun, female-centered spin on the iconic, classic “Scooby Doo”, with such an amazing team behind it,” Sarah Jeffery posted on Instagram, tagging her co-star.
“JINKIES guess who I’m playing ????,” Sarah Gilman added on her own account.
This looks like so much fun, and we can’t wait to get more updates from set!
