Troian Bellisario on her Anorexia: “I don’t know that I would be living today.”

TB speaks out on why she’s supporting HRC.

The talented Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario has bravely opened up about her battle with anorexia.

In an interview with ATTN, she explained that she’s supporting Hillary Clinton in part because she believes that good healthcare is vital, including mental health care, and Clinton supports that.

Mental health treatment saved her life: “If I had been shunned to the side as not having ‘real problems,’ I don’t know that I would be living today,” she admitted. “I just want to make sure that everybody has the same opportunity for treatment that I have, and I think that we have to make sure that our government invests in those programs.”

She went on to say that “a lot of it is about presenting a front…as you’re slowly killing yourself…I felt this inability to interact with people and to nourish myself.”

Bellisario is a “huge supporter of Mrs. Clinton” specifically because she has been an advocate for health care “and her definition of health care includes mental health care.”

Mental illness is just as real and just as traumatic as physical illness, and it deserves to be treated as such. Stars like Bellisario shedding light on their personal experiences with eating disorders inspires others to speak out as well, because suffering from an illness doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with you. It just means that you’re sick.
