One of the zillions of things the guys of One Direction are amazing at is constantly surprising us with new things: their music never failed to impress and delight us. The same holds true now that each of the guys is working on his own projects, and we feel like we are learning more about the artists than ever before.
Case in point: Louis Tomlinson just dropped some bombshell confessions we had no idea about! In a new interview with The Guardian, Louis got more candid than ever, and we’ve rounded up some of the most surprising and revealing quotes he shared.
1. He thinks he’s forgettable.
What?! While Directioners remember every little thing about every guy in the band, Louis confessed he always felt like he was in the background.
“Like Niall, for example. He’s the most lovely guy in the world. Happy-go-lucky Irish, no sense of arrogance. And he’s fearless,” he shared. “Zayn has a fantastic voice and for him it was always about owning that. Liam always had a good stage presence, same as Harry, they’ve both got that ownership. Harry comes across very cool. Liam’s all about getting the crowd going, doing a bit of dancing… And then there’s me.”
2. He relates to Zayn — and always has.
“Zayn, back in the day. He could relate to me on a nerves level. In the first year we were both the least confident,” Louis shared about their anxieties.
3. He says other artists aren’t as eager to collab with him solo as they were with 1D.
“I couldn’t say to you now that I could definitely get a superstar writer in a session with me. And I understand that,” he said, adding matter-of-factly, “Harry won’t struggle with any of that.”
4. Louis has found himself dedicating his work to his late mother.
“I’m not gonna claim this is all for me mum. But it was definitely… It was…” he shared, explaining that he can’t believe he performed on “X Factor” right after her passing.
5. His mom actually had his email password.
Louis said that he never hid anything from his mother, and he was so comfortable with her that no conversation — no matter how personal — was off-limits.
6. Louis didn’t want One Direction to go on hiatus either.
“In the last year of One Direction I was probably the most confident I ever was. And then it was: ‘OK, hiatus!’” he shared. “It wasn’t necessarily a nice conversation. I could see where it was going.”
7. He never intended to go solo.
“If you’d asked me a year or 18 months ago: ‘Are you going to do anything as a solo artist?’ I’d have said absolutely not,” he said, explaining that he only changed his mind because he still has a vision to put out there.
8. He is continually blown away by the never-ending support of the 1D fandom.
“I honestly think they’ll write books about One Direction fans. Because they are so fanatical. The intensity. It’s remarkable,” he said.
