This is wrong on so many levels.

Back in 2013, Taylor Swift was allegedly assaulted by DJ and radio host, David Miller during a backstage meet and greet with her fans. “Right as the moment came for us to pose for the photo, [David] took his hand and put it up my dress…and no matter how much I scooted over, it was still there,” she said. “It was completely intentional, I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
Years after the assault, David sued Taylor Swift, claiming that her allegations cost him both his career and his reputation. Taylor countersued and stated she had photographic evidence that would prove he groped her.
Knowing that the photo would become tabloid fodder, Taylor and her lawyers requested that it remain sealed and never be released to the public. They were also concerned that the photo’s release could potentially sway a jury, and the judge agreed.
However, in a terrible turn of events, TMZ published the photo this weekend. Commenters blamed Taylor and criticized her body. It’s unclear whether or not the jury has been selected for the trial but since this photo was leaked, it is at risk to be dismissed as evidence.
This turn of events is devastating on so many levels. Taylor’s rights violated, the court case will now be more difficult, and sexual assault victims have already gone through so much, they should be able to report assaults without facing threats or further harassment. And they certainly should never have to relive the traumatic incident again and again when a website decides to leak information or evidence.
We love Taylor and hope that her trial is fair and just. If you or anyone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, don’t be afraid to contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800.656.HOPE.
