EXCLUSIVE: Laurie Hernandez, Nina Lu, and Hannah Nordberg Dish On Making New Friends

We had the BEST time hanging out with Nina, Hannah, and Laurie at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics, where we celebrated the launch of Nina and Hannah’s new Amazon special, An American Girl Story – Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance.  

In the movie, Nina plays Ivy, a Chinese-American girl who struggles with finding a balance between her two cultural identities: Chinese and American. With her family’s Chinese traditions and obligations, she’d rather be like her all-American best friend, Julie (played by Hannah). When her gymnastics tournament and family’s big Chinese New Year dinner land on the same day, Ivy relies on Julie to guide her with a difficult choice. You can watch it starting this Friday, March 24, on Amazon Prime Video!
