For DJ Martin Garrix, the Olympics Closing Ceremony Was a Career Milestone

You’ll be bubbling over with pride when you see how his music has come full circle.

One of the best ways to commemorate an amazing 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea was a beautiful closing ceremony. The event was filled with performers, athletes, and guests from around the world who proudly repped their countries. Of course, it’s a BIG DEAL to be a part of such a huge international event – and stars like Martin Garrix were honored just to take part.

But for the 21-year-old DJ, this Olympics ceremony actually was a full-circle moment in his career. As he revealed on Instagram, he was inspired to take up music professionally after seeing one of his childhood DJ inspirations – Tiesto  – hit the same stage.

“Can’t believe I get to close The Olympics…” Martin shared on his Instagram. “I was watching The Olympics in 2004 with Tiesto opening the event which inspired me to do what I do today. Being part of the closing ceremony tomorrow, I can only hope and dream that I can inspire someone the same way he did. Life is crazy. +x.”

Talk about a proud moment all around!

It gets even better though: ahead of his moment in the spotlight, Martin even got a FaceTime call from Tiesto himself, wishing him good luck. After all this time, they’re “brothers” who’ve even worked together!

Martin really made his dreams come true, just like so many Olympians who displayed their impressive skills. As he added in a follow-up Instagram post, “never stop dreaming.”
