Glamour Magazine to Join White House for International Day of the Girl

On October 11th, Glamour’s nonprofit outreach The Girl Project is teaming up with the White House Let Girls Learn Initiative to host a massive digital talk about education inequality around the globe – and we are seriously excited.

First Lady Michelle Obama and Glamour‘s Editor-in-Chief, Cindi Leive, will be talking at the Newseum in Washington DC. Girls from all over the world are also to join via Skype to talk about the educational struggles girls in different face while trying to achieve an education will be joined by actress and budding activist, Yara Shahidi. 

At just 16 years old, Yara is a strong advocate for equality, having bravely spoken out about being a black actress in Hollywood. She has just signed with New York’s Women Management modeling, in hopes of creating an even platform to see women of color in different roles. She hopes that her work is creating equality through art, and it most definitely is.
