Josh Richards is making moves. Last week, the company he co-founded, TalentX Entertainment, entered into a groundbreaking partnership with Warner Records, and it was announced that Josh would be the first artist signed to the new label! It’s not surprising, considering his first-ever music release, “Still Softish” (featuring Bryce Hall) racked up over 27 million views in less than four months.
And while the Canada native first built his brand on TikTok, he’s bringing his burgeoning business to a competing app: Triller. The news isn’t particularly surprising, considering fellow Sway House member Griffin Johnson’s tweets from yesterday:
But now we know why: Not only has Josh become an investor in Triller, he’s also accepted the position of Triller’s Chief Strategy Officer. (Griffin Johnson and Noah Beck are also advisors and equity shareholders.) “After seeing the U.S. and other countries’ governments’ concerns over TikTok – and given my responsibility to protect and lead my followers and other influencers – I followed my instincts as an entrepreneur and made it my mission to find a solution,” he says. “I am proud to announce that I am formally an investor in Triller and will serve as their Chief Strategy Officer.” So awesome!
And it’s clear that Josh takes his role as an influencer seriously: “Throughout my career, my goal has always been to protect my peers from the dangers of the industry and to be a mentor and friend,” he explains. “This is why, along with some amazing cofounders, I started TalentX. As part of my role with Triller, I will help guide the user experience and talent tools and technology to be the absolute best in the industry, focusing on what is needed for creators to succeed on both the content and monetization front. Today’s announcement is a major step towards achieving this goal and I couldn’t be more excited to start this next chapter.” And we’re so excited to witness it.
