Shrek 5!?

Just when we thought we’d seen the last of our fave ogre in Shrek Forever After, we’re hearing that Dreamworks is currently working on a fifth film! Michael McCullers—writer of the iconic Austin Powers films – will be penning the script. We’ll be waiting on the edge of our seats until we can peel back more layers of our favorite ogre.

Sky High 2

Say Hi to Sky High 2! A sequel to the 2005 film, which centered around a high school filled with superheroes and villains is apparently in the works! Disney hasn’t officially announced it, but we’re all very excited to possibly be reunited with the Stronghold family at the coolest school in all the land!

Willy Wonka: The Movie

If you loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then you’re in luck. Warner Brothers has secured the rights to create a new film based around the iconic Willy Wonka character! The untitled movie will be produced by David Heyman (Harry Potter) and written by Simon Rich (The Secret Life of Pets). No word on who will play the role originated by the late Gene Wilder and reprised by Johnny Depp in 2005.

Captain Planet

Word on the street is that Leonardo DiCaprio’s production co is working on a live-action Captain Planet movie. The idea stems from the 90’s TV series Captain Planet and the Planteers, which followed 5 young people who had the ability to control the natural elements and fought with superhero Captain Planet against environmental injustices. It seems fitting that DiCaprio would want to be involved with a project like this – given his position as an environmental advocate who often speaks out against climate change and other issues. Count us in.

Moana

The first clip from Disney’s latest animated feature, Moana, has been released. Moana tells the story of a young girl who sets out on a journey to find a fabled island. On this journey, she meets Maui, the demigod, voiced by Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock). Lin-Manuel Miranda, best known for writing the Tony-Award and Emmy-Award winning musical, Hamilton is working on its soundtrack. The combination of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s music with Disney’s heart-warming and comedic storytelling is sure to be a smash. Click here to check out this new clip from Moana!
