Starbucks Unveils This Year’s Holiday Cup & Reveals Its Deeper Meaning

Plus, all the info on which winter beverages are back!

By: Emily J

There are two different kinds of people in the world: those who celebrate the holidays according the calendar and those who celebrate the holidays according to Starbucks’ seasonal menu. Even though Starbucks’ official holiday cup won’t be released until November 10th, our favorite coffee chain has given us a sneak peek.

This limited-edition green cup was designed with a simple concept in mind: To be kind to one another. “During a divisive time in our country, Starbucks wanted to create a symbol of unity as a reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other,” said Starbucks chairman and CEO, Howard Schultz.

Shogo Ota is the artist responsible for the new design, using a single line to draw sketches of different people like a barista, a coffee farmer, and a family.

Starbucks hasn’t associated the cup with the holidays but it arrived on the same day as the infamous holiday drinks!

The drinks that made the cut are:

  • Caramel Brulée Latte
  • Chestnut Praline Latte
  • Eggnog Latte
  • Gingerbread Latte
  • Peppermint Mocha (and the skinny versions)

Now the official debate begins: Are you the person who starts celebrating the holiday season after Thanksgiving or have you been listening to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You” since Halloween ended?!
