Watch 12-Year-Old Meghan Markle Stand Up for a Cause She Believed In

Way before the royal wedding, Meghan was speaking about feminism on Nickelodeon!

Over the weekend, you may have tuned in to watch a huge extravaganza: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married in the Royal Wedding heard ’round the world. But way before the former actress and current Duchess of Sussex was living out our fairytale princess dreams, she was a smart and inspiring young girl who proudly stood up for the causes she believed in.

Thanks to all of the wedding buzz, an old clip of 12-year-old Meghan appearing on Nick News was just unearthed: and the short video is proof that she was ALWAYS this fantastic. The reason why Meghan was profiled for the throwback Nickelodeon segment was because she made big changes after calling out a company for using sexist language in their TV commercial.

As the story goes, Meghan saw a dish soap commercial that she felt was targeted unfairly towards women, making it seem like only women would work in the kitchen or help with the housework. She expressed her concerns by writing a letter to the brand in question, and not only did they receive it, but they actually went on to edit their commercial to take out the sexist terms.

Talk about being a dedicated feminist right from her early years!
