EXCLUSIVE Q&A: Jillian Shea Spaeder on Her New Single & More

The “Walk the Prank” star released “Talk Too Loud” today and we’ve got the scoop!

For the past three years, Jillian Shea Spaeder has cracked us up on her Disney XD prank show. But did you know the 16-year-old is also a prolific musician, singer, and songwriter? Check out her 2016 cover of Vance Joy’s “Riptide.”

Now, Jillian’s releasing her own original music – and it’s AMAZING! Earlier today, she dropped her newest single, “Talk Too Loud,” and we had to know more. Check out our exclusive Q&A!

Q: For fans who only know you from Walk the Prank, can you talk a bit about our musical background and how/when you started playing music? 

A: I come from a very musical family, so I’ve been singing and playing music my whole life. It’s my passion. I started taking piano when I was six and taught myself guitar at 12. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been singing, and I started writing music several years ago. Music is a huge part of my life.

Q: Who are your biggest inspirations musically? 

A: Ed Sheeran is a great guitar player and writes his own music, so he’s probably my biggest inspiration. I also love Alessia Cara, The Beatles and Queen. I like different styles of music, and I think the diversity of my music tastes is reflected in my songwriting.

Q: What inspired “Talk Too Loud”? 

A: “Talk Too Loud” is about being an open book and super honest. People care too much about what other people think, so they may not be true to themselves. If you want to share your opinions, do it loud and proud. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind.

Q: What’s your advice for someone who wants to start singing or playing music but has no idea where and how to start? 

A: YouTube is actually an easy way to learn songs. Different people post videos on how to play or sing certain things, so pick your favorite song and learn it. You can also take voice or music lessons!

Q: What can fans expect from you musically now that the single’s out?

A: I have a bunch of new songs coming out this year, so stay tuned!
