See how the cast reacted to their victory
The latest season of “Andi Mack” revealed the groundbreaking journey of Cyrus (played by Joshua Rush). This powerful scene between Cyrus and Buffy will go down in history:
So it came as no surprise when Andi Mack was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Kids and Family Programming. The annual awards ceremony honors outstanding representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in media. The awards luncheon took place on Wednesday, and were attended by YSBnow faves like Luna Blaise, Joshua Rush, and Peyton Elizabeth Lee.
And guess what:
ANDI MACK WON!
The cast, along with the fandom, was totally thrilled. “Thank you @glaad for recognizing #andimack for Outstanding Kids and Family Programming,” said Lilan Bowden (Bex). “Here’s to more LGBTQ representation and more underrepresented stories being told.”
Josh Rush wrote:
We won. Thank you SO MUCH to this amazing cast and crew that I have the privilege of working with, and to all the people at Disney Channel who helped create this show! GLAAD has been a big part of the coming out scene from the beginning, and they worked with the channel to make it as great as it could be. Thank you to everyone involved, top to bottom, and especially you the fans, who made this show even more fun to work with.
Peyton Elizabeth Lee captioned the photo below, “took this W for anyone who has ever felt they were irrelevant or unwelcome in this world. we’re with you. forever and always.”
So awesome! Asher and Sofia were unable to attend the awards, due to the fact that they’re filming movies out of the country. But we know they were there in spirit.
And did you know the gang reunites to start filming Season 3 in just a few weeks?! WooHoo! We love Andi Mack!
