What REALLY went into making those magical cotillion gowns?
Bold statement: the cotillion scene in “Descendants 2” was easily one of the biggest fashion moments in Disney Channel Original Movie history. The costumes that Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, and China McClain wore for the royal ball were especially stunning, and now we’re about to learn a whole lot more about what went into crafting those incredible designs.
Style plays a huge role in the sequel film, as we get to see Evie and Dizzy explore their fashion talents and design skills. So it’s no surprise that the movie’s costume designer Kara Saun went all out creating magical and memorable outfits for the entire cast of characters.
Disney Channel has been sharing detailed close-up shot galleries of Mal, Evie, and Uma’s accessories on Instagram, so you can get a better look at just how beautiful they are.
The network also revealed Evie’s design book from The Isle to show early design sketches and fabric samples.
It’s honestly impossible to choose a favorite look among the girls’ gorgeous gowns.
But if you want to know even more secrets about these looks, you’re in luck: on Friday, September 8 at 8:30pm, Disney will be airing a fashion special going behind the scenes of the design process.
In the special, airing with an encore presentation of D2, you’ll see Kara Saun talk all about the special cotillion looks. You can take a sneak peek in the video below:
