Here’s How Shawn Mendes Is Giving Back Through His New Merch

It’s all sparked by his powerful new song with Khalid, called “Youth.”

If you had a chance to listen to Shawn Mendes’ incredible new song “Youth,” which he collaborated with Khalid on, it’s very likely it instantly struck a chord with you. The first time I heard it, a tear sprung to my eye, because it just captured this moment we’re living in so perfectly. The story behind the song lyrics is about pushing through the hopeless heartbreak we all feel when devastating events happen in the world, and not letting these things break us down.

In a new interview with radio DJ Zane Lowe, Shawn said he was inspired to write the song with Khalid in order to capture how young people in the world are really feeling.. “I said when we get together, we have to make a statement. We have to move,” he shared. “We have to write about what’s going on in life and how the youth is feeling because I think we have the voice to do that.” 

It can feel like there are so many overwhelmingly scary, bad, and confusing things going on in the news and the world. But there are also so many beautiful, kind, and happy things happening at the same time — and Shawn’s latest mission is proof.

To celebrate the release of “Youth,” Shawn dropped stylish new merch on his website. Not only does rocking his latest hoodie designs support the artist and his goals for the song, but he’s actually donating a portion of proceeds to the March For Our Lives movement’s mission to end gun violence.
