“I love to create change.”
Christian Siriano is making the runway more diverse than it’s ever been!
At this year’s New York Fashion Week, the 30-year-old designer – and season four winner of Project Runway – is being praised for having five plus size models strut the catwalk in his Spring 2017 collection.
“I love that we dress so many different types of women,” he says. “That’s what the world is, the women sitting at home. I just think it’s super important.”
Featuring ladies of various shapes, colors and sizes, his show is being called the “most inclusive runway of the season.” Though plus-size models have appeared at New York Fashion Week before, there’s something special about the way Christian put Georgia Pratt, Sabina Karlsson, Precious Lee, Marquita Pring and Alessandra Garcia Lorido into his lineup of models.
By seamlessly incorporating plus and sample size models into a show together, he makes the statement that every body type belongs on the same catwalk – no matter their sizes.
“At the end of the day, I love to create change,” says Christian. “I think it will be nice if then there’s a new wave of a totally different fashion ‘it’ girls.”
Needless to say, the Fashion Week audiences in New York and around the world are in L-O-V-E with his model choice and latest designs.
We think Christian’s message is pretty incredible, and hope you do too! Beauty has NOTHING to do with the number listed inside an item of clothing. It’s all about loving who you are and strutting your stuff, just like these ladies did last night!
