Iskra Lawrence Gets Real About Internet Trolls And Cyber Bullying

“This isn’t a laughing matter – this is a serious matter.”

Iskra Lawrence is making it clear that online abuse is no joke, and something that needs to be addressed.

We first got to know Iskra as an Aerie model and later fell even more in love with her when she flawlessly stood up for everyone who has ever been called “fat” in an epic Instagram post.

In her position as a public figure, however, cyber bullying – unfortunately and unfairly – seems to come with the territory.

“I get trolled daily. I get anything from slut, whore to fat, fat cow, disgusting,” she said. “This can lead to quite serious psychological harm. It can lead to people being scared in their own homes. This isn’t a laughing matter – this is a serious matter. People need to be made aware of that.”

In an interview with BBC One, Iskra shared the scary details of message she received from an unknown man dressed as The Joker who said, “I will kill you.”

“It’s very intimidating, you don’t feel safe because there is no way to stop it or prevent it,” she explained. “My dad’s tried… he’s gone out of his way to try and report it but it’s still there.”

Harassment of any kind, whether somebody is a celebrity or not, is NOT acceptable. Nobody EVER deserves to have their life threatened or feelings hurt. As bystanders to these things, it’s our responsibility to call out and stop such bullying when we see it.
