“It came to a point where I told my parents I wanted to see a therapist and a psychiatrist”
On her new hit show Riverdale, Lili Reinhart’s character, Betty Cooper, is coping with a lot. As it turns out, Lili can relate to some of Betty’s struggles. Recently, Lili opened up about her own private battle with depression. “It came to a point where I told my parents I wanted to see a therapist and a psychiatrist,” she explains. “It makes me feel stronger to be able to say that I was able to seek help when I knew that I needed it – and not just suffer in silence.”
We love Lili’s point here. Whatever you might be struggling with, whether it’s depression, anxiety, or a sibling with mental illness (like Betty’s sister on Riverdale), it’s so important to know that you’re not alone. And it’s so important to know that there are resources out there that can help. “It’s not something you brush under the rug,” she shares. “Saying that you’re sad or you’re hurt is not saying that you’re less than or that you’re admitting weakness. It’s the opposite.”
Yes! You can watch Lili on Riverdale every Thursday at 9 PM on The CW.
