“We talked about her cats.”
While most kids are dreading the end of summer vacation, Ella Whistler is excited to go back to school.
On May 25, the 13-year-old nearly lost her life in a school shooting. She was shot seven times in her Nobelsville West Middle School classroom and hospitalized with severe injuries.
While recovering, she got the opportunity to FaceTime her favorite recording artist: one of the biggest pop stars in the world, Taylor Swift.
“She just said that she was really thinking about me, and we talked about her cats, too,” said Ella during a radio interview on the WFMS-FM (95.5) morning show. “It was pretty great.”
Though she still has a lot of healing ahead of her, Ella says she is “doing great” and ready to “make things normal again.”
We’re so happy Ella is feeling better and that Taylor Swift was there for her during a super difficult time!
