Zendaya Fights Photoshop In a Body Positive New Post
Zendaya is always standing up for what she believes in and the message in her recent Instagram post is no different.
It seems like every day, Zendaya gives us another reason to feel proud, empowered, and completely beautiful in our own skin. When she did a photo shoot with Modeliste magazine, the Euphoria star was alarmed when the heavily-retouched pics were released. Zendaya wouldn’t edit her body in photos on her own social media, so seeing her body retouched was shocking for the former Disney Channel actress. She posted the photo below to Instagram, which showed the digital alteration of the original pic, and shared her thoughts.
Zendaya wrote, “Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it???? Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue.”
Zendaya stood up for herself and her beliefs and her actions made a difference. The magazine decided to pull down the retouched images they originally posted and replace them with the original photos of Z’s unedited body. This was a total win for Z and for girls, everywhere! It’s moments like this that end the harmful body shaming and help celebrate real bodies.
And while we’re on the topic, you should know: We don’t use Photoshop at YSBnow, not ever. We don’t even have it on our computers. Cause just like Zendaya, we think everyone is beautiful exactly as they are. You’re so beautiful, now! Thanks, Z!
