Becky G Shares How Working Out Is Helping Her Mental Health

“My motivation is bigger than just the perfect body but my overall health,” the singer says.

If you follow Becky G on social media, you’ve likely been inspired by her fitness routines. The singer and actress is constantly hitting the gym and working on being her strongest and healthiest self, which is truly motivating. But in her latest Instagram story post, the star wanted to clarify exactly why she goes so hard with her workouts — and it’s no longer about having the “perfect body.”

Becky shared that she has always had weak knees that she is on a mission to strengthen, but along the way she also wants to strengthen her confidence.

“With the pressure of the industry I work in, I constantly felt like I was drowning. In comparisons, expectations, insecurities. You would never notice because of the whole ‘the show must go on’ mentality,” she posted. “The sad part is that it’s never ending. It’s never going to stop. So instead of downing in self doubt, I’m going to teach myself how to swim.”

“Before, my intentions for working out were only to have the typical ‘dream body’. Guess what! Never got there…it wasn’t inspiring. Instead, I felt discouraged,” she added, explaining that she’s in a healthier place now, mentally. “Here I am. Finally ready for the beginning of a new chapter. Conquering my anxiety and gaining control of my mental health. My motivation is bigger than just the perfect body but my overall health.”

Becky’s new vision for her workouts is even more inspiring than before, and we’re so thankful to her for sharing her journey with us all.
