“Can you say representation,” he says
Disney Junior just announced a brand new animated series, and we couldn’t be more here for it! The network revealed that an exciting new show called “Mira, Royal Detective” is headed to the channel in 2020.
According to Disney, “it’s the story of a young girl who’s smart, resourceful, and has a knack for solving mysteries.” Not only does the show focus on a brilliant, adventurous and curious girl, but the series will put the spotlight on Indian culture and customs. Authentic Indian music, dance, and customs will all be part of the show’s stories – and there’s an all-Indian cast behind the show!
Joining the voice cast are actors like Freida Pinto, Hannah Simone, Jameela Jamil, Karan Brar, Aasif Mandvi, Kal Penn, Kamran Lucas, Sarita Choudhury, and more.
Several creators and members of the cast and crew took to social media to share how thrilled they are to be part of this new project.
Karan Brar said he thinks this show is going to make a “huge difference.”
He caption the photo below: “CAN YOU SAY REPRESENTATION. Thank you @disneyjunior for working to make your channel more and more diverse/inclusive for young kids,” he posted on Instagram. “Can’t tell you guys how much I’ve loved working on this project the past few months. This show makes a huge difference and I’m forever grateful to all the people working behind the scenes that made this show happen.”
Jameela Jamil is proud to join the all-Indian cast, and to see a smart girl taking the spotlight.
Roshni Edwards can’t wait to see Indian culture represented across the mainstream media like this.
Breana Williams is all about telling diverse stories.
