Heartfelt advice from the singing superstar
Taylor Swift is consistently dropping realness on us that seems to just make everything better. The “Lover” singer is passionate about inspiring her fans and standing up for what she believes in- no matter what. Her ability to stand up for herself inspires the world to do the same and she’s absolutely changing the world.
In an interview with NME magazine, she opened up about the press constantly hammering her. “I’m in the news every single day for multiple different reasons,” she explains. “And it can feel, at times, if you let your anxiety get the better of you, like everybody’s waiting for you to really mess up – and then you’ll be done. A lot of the time I need to call my mom and talk for a really long time, just to remind myself of all the things that are great and all the things that matter. If you do something that defines your character to be not what the public thought you were, that’s the biggest risk.”
Moral of the story? Don’t sweat the small stuff. Focus on staying true to what you’re all about, not on what other people might think you’re all about. Thanks Taylor! We needed that today. Even if you’re not a celebrity doing interviews with magazines, you can definitely use this advice. Taylor’s wise words can apply to bullies in school or online or standing up for yourself at school or at work.
Watch Taylor speak about her career and apply these values to her Artist of the Decade acceptance speech in 2019.
Taylor applies this inspiring advice to her music as well. The first T.S song that we think of in this case is one of her first hits, “Mean” in 2010.
Thanks for always inspiring us, Taylor!
