After eight years on the network, Zendaya teases some possible projects
Over the weekend, K.C. Undercover aired its final episode.
It was a bittersweet moment, not only because the series wrapped, but it also signals the end of Zendaya’s Disney Channel career. Z has grown up on our screens, starring with the 2010 premiere of Shake It Up.
“The end of an era. On to the next. Thank you for continuing to grow with me,” the actress posted on her Instagram after her last-ever episode aired.
But she isn’t saying a definitive farewell forever. In a new interview, she actually explained when she would consider making a return.
“I definitely want to maybe produce another show with Disney Channel, maybe develop something or create more stories that I think are powerful roles — especially for women and women of color,” she shared. “So, I think it’s important that young people see themselves on the screen and are able to relate to that.”
That would be so epic – especially considering how hard the star worked in producing K.C. and making the family and characters so strong.
“The No. 1 thing for [K.C. Undercover] all along was empowerment — especially female empowerment,” she added. “I wanted to make sure that there was a strong female character, and I think it’s cool that young women and young men can both look up and say, ‘Wow, I want to be like this girl.’ If you love something and you’re excited, there should be nothing holding you back from doing that.”
For now, we’ll be obsessing over Z’s past series in re-runs, waiting for her next undoubtedly amazing project, and re-watching her amazing Shake It Up audition!
