At just 13 years old, Lucas Cruikshank created a character called Fred and posted his first YouTube video. That may not seem like a huge deal now, but this was back in 2006, before the term “YouTuber” even existed. Less than three years later, the Fred YouTube channel became the first to ever hit one million subscribers.
Lucas went on to star in three Fred movies and appear in episodes of iCarly and Hannah Montana. Eventually, he landed his own Nickelodeon TV show, Marvin Marvin, where he played a teen alien who moves in with an American family and pretends to be human.
The show only lasted one season, but Lucas has a hilariously humble take on the short-lived series:
Lucas paved the way for all of the YouTubers who came after him, including his little brother, Jacob, who posted his first video in 2013. Watch the bros try weird ice cream flavors!
Now 23, Lucas continues to post YouTube videos on his own channel. He also uses his celeb platform to help support important charity causes. Just last month, Lucas appeared in the lyric video for “Hands.”
He often appears at events, like PlaylistLive in Washington DC!
